As a friend of Luke’s, he recently asked me to make a contribution to his blog and I was stoked to be able to chip-in. Now to give you the big picture, my name is Rick Watson and I have my own personal training business that focuses on training personal trainers (strange eh?). But before that, I also ran my own mobile personal training business for 6 years.
But before I bore you with details, let me explain why I am here hanging out on the Revolution blog. I LOVE MOBILE PERSONAL TRAINING! It’s that simple. I lived it and breathed it for so many years that as a student of personal training, the mobile variety is my poison of choice.
These are my three main reasons why mobile personal training rocks my world (and how it can rock yours too):
No excuses personal training: Personal training is all about getting results right? How many times have you been a member of a gym and planned to go and do a workout only to pull out at the last minute because you don’t feel like it. Don’t worry; I have heard some pretty funky excuses in my time.
When your mobile trainer is standing at your doorstep at 5.50am on a winter morning, there is no place to hide. Take your PJ’s off, get dressed, put your runners on and get started. Your body will thank you (even if your mind is swearing at you). Consistency = results.
Personal training for busy people: The funny thing about getting fit and losing weight is that life often gets in the way. Kids, work, emergency dentist visits – they all throw curve balls at you to de-rail your good intentions.
But with a mobile trainer, the gym comes to you; anywhere, anytime. Stuck at work – let’s meet in the park at lunchtime. Kid’s home from school – let’s train at home. Mobile personal training gets you the results you want and still allows life to happen around you.
More trainer for your buck: Ok, this may be a little weird but stay with me. What I am talking about here is client attention – having the trainer focus 100% on their client for the entire session, EVERY time. I have run a PT studio and mobile businesses and I can confidently say that mobile clients benefit from getting the most attention of any type of client.
If you are training in a gym or studio setting, the social aspect of the environment (especially for the trainer who is there all the time) WILL impact on your session. Mobile training is obviously 100% client focused and that is one of the big reasons why I love it so much.
As you can see with every one of these three points, it all comes back to getting greater results for the client. It is the small things done consistently that achieves these great results and in my opinion, mobile personal training simply removes the roadblocks to make life easier.
So yeah, mobile personal training rocks my world and I hope that it is rocking your world too. If it’s not, get in touch with Luke and get moving. Don’t let life get in the way
Cheers
Rick
