Exercise Myth Busters #23

Personal Training Melbourne

Eating right means three meals per day

Whilst we enjoy three main meals a day these should not be the only times we eat. Rather, it is recommended that we eat 5-6 times a day; this includes small snacks in between the larger meals to ensure you have a constant supply of energy to get you through the day, and for maximum performance during your training sessions. By eating more regularly you will also experience fewer hunger pains and cravings, and you will create a metabolic environment that supports healthy fat loss and muscle gains.

I though weight loss required you to reduce calorie intake. Wouldn’t this only lead to an increase in calories?

Great point Nicole. Reducing overall calorie intake is crucial. By eating smaller more regular meals we are able to do this more effectively. Our overall portion size can be reduced and we are never letting ourselves getting overly hungry which is when we are more prone to overeating.
