Interview with personal trainer Russell Laurie

Why did you become a personal trainer?
To help people change their lives in a positive way.  Being able to see someone reach their potential and knowing that you have had some involvement in guiding them to that point is a very fulfilling experience.
What do you love about working with Revolution?
I enjoy being surrounded by a team of highly qualified trainers that all come from a wide range of training experiences and backgrounds
What is your earliest memory of being active?
As long as I can remember I have always been very active and tried competing in a wide range of different sports.  One of my earliest memories would be going to ‘little athletics’ every Saturday morning in Keilor with my whole family
What is your favourite exercise?
My favourite form of exercise would have to be training and playing football.  Over the past few years I’ve had some rather serious injuries but I am hoping that is all behind me now.
What is your favourite piece of equipment?
I enjoy using a fit ball for core strength exercises and I try and use my foam roller whenever I can for recovery
Where is your favourite place to workout?
Being able to get outside on a warm sunny day
What is your training philosophy?
Train hard, but have fun and enjoy the benefits
How do you unwind after a long days work?
Relax with friends, use my computer and taking my dogs for a walk
If you weren’t a personal trainer, what would you be?
I would love to one day work with elite and semi-elite athletes
What training styles do you specialize in?
Sports specific training, strength and conditioning, weight management.  Russell is a personal trainer based in the Essendon, Tullamarine area in Melbourne
